How much will it cost
Our fees are made up of
An application fee
Assessor's fees
Expenses
You do not need legal representation. You may ask and pay for additional support or help from the Centre though this is not usually necessary. You will pay no other costs than described below.
For an indication of how much a case might cost please see our Cost guide.
Application fee
An application fee is paid at the outset (usually paid by the applicant). The amount depends on the value of the claim. Please find the amounts under Application fee.
The Centre will provide a preliminary consultation free of charge.
Assessor's fees
The assessor’s fees depend on the time he/she spends on the case and on his/her hourly charge. The hourly charge will reflect
- the assessor’s experience and expertise
- the amount and complexity of the dispute
- any other relevant factors
Rates are normally between £125 and £300 an hour though higher rates may apply in more complex and high value cases.
The assessor will give you a cost estimate at the start of the case.
Expenses
The parties will need to meet any experts' fees and any out of pocket expenses, such as travel, room hire and witness expenses.
Support costs
The Centre may provide additional help e.g. in preparing the application or reply forms or in collecting evidence. It may also provide counselling or other support. If the Centre needs to charge for these the hourly rates are: £200 for senior staff, £150 for case managers and £125 for junior staff.
Sharing the cost
Our fees are shared between the parties. For how they are shared and paid see Payment.
All figures given are exclusive of VAT (unless otherwise stated).
